Wake up this morning saw the mercury dip to 29. However, I knew that by midday we would see the 60’s once again. Urging Robin to put her face on early, we made the trek southwest to the Susquehanna as I knew that eagles had a habitat on one of the islands. Weaving our way past the dotted landscape of dairy farms and horse drawn buggies, York County was within reach in an hour. At a lookout in the park, we introduced ourselves to Jerry Albert. I noticed his Canon 7D camera and ‘L’ glass and in no time our kibitzing became a fast bond. Jerry hails from nearby Lancaster. We shared some photo information but more importantly he told me where the eagles hung out, pointed out some other interesting facts about future shoots and we made plans to meet again next spring upon our return. How funny the intersection of peoples’ lives. We were unable to find more than one eagle but the way the morning opened to us was complimentary enough. Enjoy the show.
A magnificant symbol of our freedom in it’s natural habitat……..worth an early morning trek. Happy Trails~
